Reacting to Gandhi's visit, Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi said, “I am not against the Congress leader's visit to Forbesganj, but he also should have gone to Bhagalpur where hundreds of people died during the riots when the Congress was in power in Bihar”. “The visit has nothing to do with politics and is to give a healing touch,” he said. Kaiser said that Gandhi met the bereaved families besides those injured. He, however, left after a group of persons standing there with flags tried to draw his attention to the loss of property in the arson before the firing.
